Millbrook Earns Berth in WNEPSGSBA Finals with 14-2 Win over Christian Heritage in Semis
The Millbrook Softball Team earned a spot in the WNEPSGSBA Championship for the second straight year after beating Christian Heritage, 14-2, in the semifinals. The Mustangs are seeded first in the tournament and hosted #4 Christian Heritage on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs gave up a run in the top of the first, but scored two in the bottom of the inning and did not relinquish the lead again. Every single Millbrook starter got on base at least once, and six different players had RBI. Melissa Rome '11 led the way with three RBI (all on a triple), Tori Trovato '12, Meg Ahern '13, and Melissa Sheeran '14 each had two, and Amber Koenigsberger '13 and Bria Horsley '14 each had one. Chloe Gbai '12 did a nice job, getting down two great bunts to get herself on base. She scored three runs. Ahern had another good day on the mound, allowing just one hit and one earned run. She struck out 14. The Mustangs will host #3 Harvey at 2:00 PM on Sunday for the championship.
