The girls jv lacrosse team travelled on a picture
perfect day to Indian Mountain, a long time rival (and friend to
Millbrook!) This was the first game of the season for IMS but even so,
they hustled, connected well with passes, and shot with authority.
Although Millbrook prevailed 14-6, the game was closer than the score
indicates. IMS has some excellent stick skill and speed; when we meet
again in a few weeks, I'm sure we will have our hands full!
It's very gratifying when the goal scoring is spread out and in this
case, 8 lady Mustangs scored: Annie, Wendy, Claire and Jesse each
notched one goal while Georgia and Sophie scored 2 goals each and
Taylor Nelson and Zoe scored hat tricks. Georgia, Sarah and Claire
also had one assist each.
Millbrook's defense played with grit and determination. Because this
was IMS' first outing, they decided to play modified checking rules, so
that took us a bit out of our game, but the Mustang defense adjusted
and exhibited excellent body positioning and shadowed sticks, working
IMS attackers into double teams and thereby winning the ball.
Caroline, Lauren, Maya, Cora, Claire, CeeCee and Tyra all played solid
defense. Emma Hart in goal made and impressive 9 saves and showed
marked improvement in her ability to clear to ball beyond the
restraining line, giving our offense a nice jump start.
