Millbrook vs. Hotchkiss

Millbrook caught a strong Hotchkiss team coming off only its second loss of the year, and paid the price -- it was strictly one-way hockey as the deeper, faster Bearcats spent most of the game in Millbrook's zone.  To their credit, the Mustangs played with defensive ferocity for the first period, holding the score to 1-0, and slid only a little in the second, which ended 3-0.  Erin Doerrsam carried forward her hot goaltending, and defenders Mary Rose Morrison, Caroline McCarthy and Ema Waldschmidt rose to the occasion in front of the net, along with centers Claire Bould and Olivia Farrell.  Determined to keep the game competitive, Millbrook came out hard in the third, but when Hotchkiss scored its fourth goal, the team collapsed and four became seven in short order.  It was a disappointing finishing effort for the hosts, but Hotchkiss had quite a bit to do with that as they never lowered their intensity and offered an admirable lesson in how the game should be played.
