Winless Millbrook took on undefeated Greenwich High School this afternoon, and while it appeared that the hosts had the edge in talent, the visiting Cardinals made it clear they were going to battle all afternoon, and that their record was no accident. It was a gritty contest throughout, with fourteen penalties called, and Millbrook never did catch the break it had been looking for all season, hitting four posts, most in the third period. Kelly Fallon and Kealin Maloney (on assists from Louise Steele-Norton and Mary Rose Morrison, scored good goals in the first two periods, though, and Erin Doerssam made big saves when her team needed them. Maloney, Steele-Norton, Claire Bould and Olivia Farrell were outstanding on the penalty kill, and young defenders Ema Waldschmidt, Jennie Liebowitz, and Molly Chapman helped restrict GHS to very few shots. It was a good team effort overall, and there was a very happy locker room following the Mustangs first win of the season.
