A short-handed but competitive Gunn team came to Millbrook today. Ireland and Catherine played some really smart and aggressive tennis to win their matches handily. Maggie faced a hard-hitting opponent, but her grit and resilience led to the victory. Outside, on senior day, Lily and Bea also faced some adversity but secured the straight set in the end. Similarly, senior Finley paired up with Estee today at number three doubles and also played well on route to a straight set victory. After a relatively easy first set, Lucy and Emelia found themselves in a dog fight in the second set, finally prevailing in a tiebreaker. The longest match was Sophie‘s. She took the first at 6-3, but her opponent came roaring back to grab the second. It would come back down to a 10-point tiebreaker. In a similar situation a couple of weeks ago, Sophie lost the tiebreaker, but not today. She regrouped, had some great serves, and played good, consistent, and aggressive tennis to secure the 10-6 victory. Ella and Vivian also won handily, playing a set each at exhibition. Overall, an incredibly strong match for our senior day, and we know we have a tough fight ahead of us next week when we play Gunn again.
