Visiting IMS left Millbrook with a well-earned 3-2 win, consistently
outplaying the hosts until the last 15 minutes, when the previously
overconfident Mustangs turned on some late pressure but were unable to
get the equalizer despite a barrage of shots.
IMS began the
brighter, and while Millbrook had some early possession, IMS took
control and Millbrook had to settle for counterattacks, with keeper Eddie Laux holding down the fort well on defense. Miguel Arias
scored on one such, against the run of play, but IMS tied it before the
half off a neat corner, and went ahead 3-1 to begin the second half on
a well-taken penalty and a scrappy third goal. Min Su Kim got Millbrook's second, and Augie Lehrecke
orchestrated one attack after another before retiring hurt. The clock
beat Millbrook to the punch and it was a hard lesson learned about
procastination, though a great moment for a well-drilled IMS outfit. Tim Cooney and Elliott Bassile had outstanding debuts on defense.
