Millbrook hosted the Suffolk U-19 AAA club team in front of a good
crowd that got it's money's worth as the teams skated to an exciting
4-4 tie. With 30 seconds left, a Suffolk forward broke free in front
of the Millbrook net and had a great chance to win it, but Erin Doerrsam,
who had played beautifully all night, was equal to the task and saved
the game for her team. The puck came down to the other end, and
Millbrook had its own chance to win it in the last seconds, but
Suffolk's swarming, shot-blocking team defense kept any shots from
getting on net. The game had gone similarly back and forth throughout,
and neither team could gain more than a one-goal lead. Suffolk had
more shots, but Millbrook created an equal number of dangerous
opportunities, and the final result was a fair reflection of a
hard-fought, fast-skating contest. Millbrook's checking line of Marie Gray, Devin Hardy, and Celia Manny deserve special mention for their hard and effective play, and Third Form rookies Jennie Liebowitz and Molly Chapman
also chipped in with solid blue-line performances. Millbrook thanks
Suffolk for making the long haul from Long Island and providing
wonderfully spirited and sportsmanlike opposition. It was a great
night of hockey!
