First Game

The Millbrook Mustangs traveled to Suffield Academy for their season opener on a blustery Wednesday afternoon. 

While the Mustangs fell 6–0 to a talented team, they did some good things that we can build on in future games. 

The Millbrook defense made some heads-up plays to keep Suffield at bay. Suffield plated three runs in two innings, with the Mustangs blanking Suffield in the other four frames. In the first, fourth, and fifth innings, Millbrook faced only three batters, and in the seventh inning, the Mustangs shut down Suffield with the bases loaded.

Defensive highlights include:

-Jaicee Downs ‘26 and Jazmin Mejia ‘25 with a beautiful double play — after snagging a line drive, Downs was heads up in firing to Mejia to catch the lead runner off the bag

-Abby Hylan ‘25’s unassisted out at the plate on an attempted steal of home

Offensive highlights include: 

-Two hits apiece from Arhi Fernandes ‘25 and Abby Roberson ‘26

The Mustangs look forward to hosting Cheshire next Wednesday.
