Millbrook vs. Canterbury

Right from the start, a spectator would have said, "This is going to be a one-goal game".  It was all of that, as Erin Doerssam and Canterbury's Deanna Ciccarelli put on a goaltending clinic at both ends.  For two periods, the action was back-and-forth and goalless, but in the third, Millbrook began to look as if they had the legs to win it.  After a couple of shots off the post, though, they must have questioned whether their luck would match their intensity.  With five minutes left, though, Kelly Fallon scored on a break started by Mary Rose Morrison, and finished by Olivia Farrell's pass to the streaking Fallon.  It was a nifty combination between the Mustangs top three scorers and a big goal to say the least.  The hosts finished off the last five minutes without too much trouble, reaching down to play their best when it counted most.  The defense, led by Morrison, Ema Waldschmidt and Caroline McCarthy, supported the outstanding Doerrsam all game, Claire Bould did an outstanding job helping kill a 5x3 penalty in the third, and every Millbrook player made a contribution this afternoon!  Canterbury was deserving of at least a point, and it truly was a game in which it was a shame there had to be a losing team.
