Millbrook vs. Greenwich Academy

At the five-minute mark of Friday's game, about the last result a fan might have expected was an easy Greenwich Academy win, but that is what developed after a banged-up Millbrook squad had come out with great intensity and grabbed a quick two-goal lead. As though hardly believing what they had achieved, the Mustangs then hung back, almost as if to see how Greenwich might respond. The visitors did not ask for a second invitation, lifted their own game, and took advantage of a suddenly weak defensive effort from Millbrook to score five unanswered goals in fifteen minutes and coast from there. Millbrook did generate good scoring opportunities throughout but lacked finish, too often firing shots at the middle of the net. Kelly Fallon led the early charge, setting up a Kristen Zublin goal and adding one of her own to get her team the good start. It was the third time, though, that Millbrook relinquished a 2-0 lead this season, and the team will need to learn how to protect and add to a lead in the second half.
