Millbrook at Gunnery

Millbrook came out hard to begin its game against long-time nemesis Gunnery and the early efforts paid off with a quick 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Kelly Fallon, both on assists from Louise Steele-Norton.  Millbrook kept up the pressure but could not get another breakthrough, and, as it developed, that was its best sustained attack of the day -- Gunnery took advantage of two defensive errors and tied the score by the end of the first.  In the middle stanza, Millbrook caught a break when Gunnery had a goal disallowed for a crease violation, and it looked as though this might the Mustangs’ day.  The Highlanders’ superior conditioning and drive took over in the third, though, as they outshot Millbrook 13-5 and came away with a well-earned 3-2 comeback win, despite a late flurry in which Olivia Farrell nearly scored.  There were great efforts all around, most notably by defenders Allie Cavanaugh, Mary Rose Morrison and Ema Waldschmidt.
