Millbrook hosted Kent for a scrimmage on Saturday afternoon. Despite only having three practices (including one in the snow on Wednesday!), we were excited to get into game situations.
The speed of Kent’s pitcher kept Millbrook’s hitters off balance for the first go through the lineup, but then players started making contact. Abby Hylan’ 25 had a great double in the fourth inning. The Millbrook bats then came alive in the 6th inning, with Arhi Fernandes ‘25, Jaicee Downs ‘26, and Hylan having back-to-back-to-back hits to load the bases with one out. Unfortunately, the Mustangs were not able to get a runner across the plate.
On the mound, Haley Malmgren ‘25 notched nine strikeouts. The Mustangs had three innings with under 10 pitches thrown, including a beautiful 1-2-3 sixth inning. Millbrook held Kent to no runs in three innings and allowed two runs apiece in the other four innings. Defensively, props to many people who stepped into new positions for the first time.
We look forward to seeing Kent again in a few weeks for our official season game. The Mustangs head to Suffield on Wednesday for their season opener!
