After a long wait, the Mustangs took the field eagerly for their season opener against Poughkeepsie Day School on Wednesday. After falling down 1-0 in the top of the first, the Millbrook bats awoke in the bottom of the second, scoring 9 runs in total. The inning was highlighted by a 2-RBI single after a long at-bat from senior Zane Acord and a 3-RBI double from Connor Cruickshank '17.
After a scoreless defensive frame, the offense picked up where it left off, scoring seven more runs in the bottom of the third. This time, Matt Gosiewski '15, Tahrieq Koonce '15, Jon Yalof '16, Trevor Burt '16, and Cruickshank all provided the run-scoring hits.
Jack Quartararo pitched a masterful 4 innings, consistently getting ahead of the PDS batters and striking out six. Millbrook takes the field next on Saturday when they host South Kent.
