Millbrook Runners Win First Home Tri-Meet!
Millbrook takes the lead over Gunnery and Hoosac, with fast finishes by Kaz Unayama, Ben Berg, and Mateo Winogrand. Also, some exciting races to the finish by Kevin Yu and Buz Galbraith. Chill, autumnal day. Great for racing!
On a characteristically crisp early-autumnday, the running Mustangs went toe-to-toe (literally) with their opponents from Gunnery. Gunnery took 1st place. Millbrook 2nd. Gunnery 3rd. Millbrook 4th. Gunnery 5th. Back and forth until strong fininshes by Mateo Winogrand, Ryan Pitoscia, and Sam Iacavazzi secured 6-7-8 for Millbrook. In Cross Country, every one of the first seven in make a difference, blocking other runners from earning lower places and lowering their team's score. A special shout out, the, goes to Millbrook's sixth and seventh men in: Jayden Reaves and Henry Schulz, who both stopped Gunnery from taking 9th or 10th in the race overall.
Fastest time went to Gunnery's Eoghan Kelly (19:07), followed by Kazuki Unayama (19:15). Ben Berg also had a good day, runing through hip discomfort forastrong finish of 20:19 on our hilly home course.
Today's Lesson: Be on time and dress properly for pre-race warm ups.
Today's Kudos: Kudos to Buz Galbraith for an astonishing finish, narrowly edging out a Gunnery runner after a duel to the finish line. Also, thanks to Victor Lou and Chris Wilkins for conducting course walks for the visiting team.
