Boys XC Takes Fifth at Canterbury Invite

Coach Brown
Mustangs take a close fifth behind Masters and Kingswood-Oxford, with Kazuki Unayama '18 fininshing 8th overall in the Boys Div II race.
After graduating several of its seasoned runners last spring, the 2016 running 'Stangs have begun chipping away at another season. On a sunny day and dry course, Millbrook took fifth among seventeen teams. Kazuki Unayama came in 8th overall in the boys Division II race and first for Milbrook at 18:23 (15 seconds better than last year on this course). Ben Berg (19:03), Victor Lou (20:14), Chris Wilkins (20:16), Jayden Reaves (20:26), Ryan Pitoscia (20:28), and Henry Schulz (20:49) followed Unayama. Many of the boys ran improved times over last year, notably Wilkins, shaving over a minute off of his time from 2015. See team results here. See individual results here.

Today's Lesson: Many of the boys had spectacularly fast first miles that turned into grueling finishes. Pacing themselves on the first mile will pay dividends in the future.

Today's Kudos: Kudos to David Nesterov-Rappoport and Sam Iacavazzi for dressing to race and warming up with the team as alternates. It's important that the team have a strong backbone and a depth of dedicated runners. Thanks, guys!

Next race: Home meet against Hoosac and Gunnery (both of whom Millbrook swept today at Canterbury.
