Students Harvest and Donate Food from the Millbrook Farm
Millbrook students have continued maintaining our garden and sharing its bounty with the larger community this summer.
Six students harvested swiss chard, garlic, lettuce, and cilantro, among other vegetables and leafy greens, and donated them to the Food Pantry of Amenia at the St. Thomas Church.
Students participating in Millbrook’s gardening community service worked diligently throughout the spring to extend Millbrook’s farm by about a half acre. As a result of this extension, students have also been able to plant more vegetables this summer including corn, beans, and squash varieties.
Students who live locally will tend to the farm throughout the summer months, and we look forward to enjoying the fall harvest in our new dining hall. We will continue to look for opportunities to share our farm fresh foods with the larger community.
