Millbrook Student Kelsey McEvoy '16 Organizes 5K Benefit Race in Honor of Ed Allen
Almost 120 Millbrook students, faculty, alumni, and friends turned out for the Relentless 5K race today. The race was organized by Kelsey McEvoy ’16 in honor of Ed Allen as part of her Culminating Experience for Seniors (CES) project.
All seniors at Millbrook are required to complete a CES project during their VI form year. The purpose of this program is to provide our VI formers with an opportunity to develop their intellectual independence by engaging in an authentic intellectual project as part of the culmination of their academic career at Millbrook.
Kelsey McEvoy ’16 chose to organize the Relentless 5K race in honor of Ed Allen, who was respected and loved by the entire Millbrook School community. A teacher, a coach, a mentor, a husband, and a father, Ed was an educator to the core and touched many lives at Millbrook School.
The 5K route touched every athletic field that he did during his time as Millbrook’s athletic director.
McEvoy’s efforts have raised approximately $2,500.00, which McEvoy will be donating to Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Mr. Allen’s honor.
“I want to thank everyone,” said McEvoy. “It means so much that so many people came out to support this cause.”
If you were not able to attend the race but are still interested in offering support, bracelets, stickers, and pins can be purchased from Kelsey.
Congratulations to Kelsey on organizing the successful event, and thank you to everyone who participated. Photos from the race can be found in our online photo gallery.
