Edward Opoku '15 Leads Virginia in Big Win Over #2 Notre Dame
Edward Opoku '15 continues to make us proud as a driving force on the University of Virginia men's soccer team.
He is a team leader for goal points this season and scored the only goal in the University of Virginia's huge win over No. 2 Notre Dame, earning him an ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor. Their win over Notre Dame was the Virginia Cavaliers' second straight win over a top 5 ACC team and Opoku's fifth team-leading goal of the season. Early in the game, Opoku picked off of a Notre Dame pass and buried a low shot from 15 yards outside of the goal.
Opoku has also been recognized for his academic achievements, as he was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll both last year and this year. Edward came to Millbrook from Right to Dream, a Ghana-based program serving potential student athletes who otherwise would not be afforded a private school education. While at Millbrook, Edward set records for the boys varsity soccer team with 85 goals and 115 points.
Athletics, across all levels, continues to be an integral part of Millbrook’s mission and student experience, and our Mustangs who go on to have major roles on Division I collegiate teams are well prepared to compete and lead with grace and grit. We look forward to continuing to follow Edward's success as a Cavalier. Check out video footage of Edward's awesome goal against Notre Dame on the University of Virginia website: http://bit.ly/2eaFwTk
