Hot Bats Continue As Millbrook Rolls to W

Robb Arndt
Millbrook took the field on a picturesque Monday afternoon in a rematch against the Canterbury Saints.

Trevor Liefer was on the mound for the Mustangs and was tactical and resilient, recording big strikeouts to work out of multiple jams. Canterbury took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third which served only to enliven the Millbrook bench and offense.

After Liefer walked, Connor Elwell did some pruning with an inside fastball, sending it into the trees in left field for a 2-1 lead. Gordon Brown-Christenson then singled and scored on an error to make it 3-1.

The Mustangs kept their foot on the gas in the bottom of the 4th. Liefer singled in Matt Kricheli and Elwell and Sheldon Freeman reached base to load the bases with 1 out. Brown-Christenson worked a 6 pitch walk with the fourth ball escaping the catcher. Elwell, as the runner on second, never hesitated rounding third and scored to make it 6-1. Freeman would also score later that inning.

The Mustangs added one in the bottom of the sixth and Elwell got the last three outs for an 8-1 victory. Liefer, Elwell, and Kricheli all had multi-hit games.

The Mustangs travel to Salisbury on Wednesday for a 2:30 start time.
