The boys varsity hockey team got a much needed win in an overtime thriller at Brunswick Saturday night. Millbrook started out slowly in the first period and found themselves running around a bit, but they settled down a few minutes into the game and played evenly with Brunswick for the period. Millbrook started the second period on the power play and took advantage of the extra man when Phil DiGiacomo scored on a rebound of his own shot off a nice pass from Kevin Altidor. Millbrook put the clamps on defensively for the rest of the period and much of the third, but Brunswick was able to score on a walk-in off a turnover with just three minutes to play. The game would go to overtime tied at one. On the first shift of the extra period, Brandon Howes picked up the puck at his own blue and skated through the Brunswick defense behind the net. Howes then managed to fit a pass into Josh Freitas standing on the opposite side of the slot, and Freitas snapped it over the Brunswick goalie for the game winner.
