New to Millbrook this year as a III former from Lenox, Massachusetts, she has already earned a spot on our Girl’s Varsity Soccer team. Like every incoming III form student, Elise will spend one-third of her freshman year working at the Trevor Zoo. Elise says that working at the zoo has taught her a lot about responsibility:
“The community service program here at Millbrook really brings us together as a community because we have responsibilities that make our campus function. When I first started working at the Trevor Zoo it was challenging to learn the feeding and cleaning schedule, but I knew that it was important to be reliable because the animals were depending on me. It feels good to have real responsibilities here,” she says.
Elise’s favorite animals are the ring-tailed lemurs because “they are so friendly,” she says. One of our nine endangered species, the lemurs are an important animal to feature at the Trevor Zoo to help bring awareness to habitat loss which is threatening not only the lemurs of Madagascar, but many species throughout the world.
In just a few short weeks, Elise has truly developed a strong bond with the lemurs, and has committed strongly to her role as a Zooie. Well done, Elise!
