Two Millbrook Alumnae Earn Victory in NCAA Division III Ice Hockey Championships
Millbrook is proud to have two former Mustangs, Melissa Sheeran '14 and Meg Lahey '15, earn wins with their respective teams in the NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey National Championships.
Melissa Sheeran '14 and the SUNY Plattsburgh Cardinals took the national championship after a 5-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. This is the third consecutive year that the Cardinals have earned the national championship, which makes them one of only two institutions to ever win three successive championships in division history.
Sheeran '14 scored one goal and added two assists in the game. She was also named Most Valuable Player. The Cardinals closed out the year with a 29-1-0 record, their best record in program history. The win total is also the most by any NCAA Division III women's ice hockey program in a single season.
Meg Lahey '15 and her Elmira College teammates concluded their season with a strong third-place finish in the Division III Championships. The Elmira Eagles played a dominant game against Middlebury, securing a 4-1 win that resulted in them taking home the NCAA Division III third-place trophy. Elmira earned a 23-5-1 overall record for the 2015-16 season, with Lahey '15 scoring one goal, and adding two assists.
Millbrook is proud of our former Mustangs for their accomplishments at the collegiate level. Congratulations to Lahey '15 and Sheeran '14 and their teams for their victories!
