Welcoming Millbrook's Newest Faculty

We are fortunate to have welcomed three talented new faculty members to Millbrook's cadre of excellent teachers. Please click read more for a brief introduction to each.

In the wake of the loss our community experienced in December, many on the faculty have stepped forward to take on additional responsibilities, with two goals in mind: to keep school well and to support Emily Allen as she focuses on caring for her family and herself.  We are fortunate to have hired two new colleagues to help us meet these goals.

Dorian Rolston will teach three sections of English.  After completing a B.A. in Philosophy at Princeton in 2010, Dorian recently completed his English Literature Diploma and Creative Writing Certificate from Cambridge University, UK.  He has taught English in China and for three summers at the Center for Talented Youth, while also pursuing freelance writing with a focus on creative non-fiction.

Terry Cox will join the faculty to teach a section of Environmental Science, and he will also participate in our community service, residential life, weekend team, and athletic programs.  Terry completed his masters in science education from St. Lawrence University just before Christmas; he also attended St. Lawrence undergrad where he majored in geology, minored in biology, and played football.

In addition, we are welcoming another new member to our faculty, Ms. Susan Beattie. Susan has joined our World Language Department, taking over for Anzia Mayer, our Mandarin Chinese teacher, who is now working outside the education field.

Ms. Beattie moved last spring from Colorado to our area with her husband, who teaches at Salisbury School, and she joins our faculty to teach all levels of Mandarin.  Having majored in Mandarin language and art history at Williams College, she has her masters in foreign language teaching from NYU.  She has spent significant time in China as a teacher at the Chinese Center for International Language Exchange in Beijing, as well as through a Fulbright grant to attend the Chinese Language Teachers Institute for Non-Native Speakers of Chinese in the summer of 2012.  Ms. Beattie is an experienced tutor and teacher.  She is also very familiar with boarding school, having grown up as a faculty child on the Middlesex School campus.

We look forward to a strong and successful 2nd semester!
