The boys varsity hockey team lost its first contest of the season 6-3 in a tough road match-up versus Canterbury. The two teams played evenly throughout the game, with Canterbury outshooting Millbrook 41-35. Canterbury jumped out early on a rebound goal just over a minute into the game and held a 1-0 lead after one period. Canterbury scored three more goals, including one shorthanded, and forced Millbrook to take a time out down 4-0 with eight minutes to play in the second period. Millbrook started its comeback shortly thereafter, with Wilson Giraldo scoring on a wrist shot from the high slot off assists from Mikkel Joehnk and Tommy Nolan. Millbrook scored again just three minutes into the third period when Penn Sednaoui slammed home a rebound after a Carl D'Amour Belizario shot from the point. Millbrook looked to be gaining momentum down only two goals with plenty of time to play, but Canterbury shut the door with two quick goals in the middle of the period. Kevin Altidor added a power play goal for Millbrook later in the third, but the game proved to be out of reach. The Mustangs will look to rebound at Winchendon on Saturday.
