Zooie of the Week - Mac Grosscup '19

Our Zooie of the Week is Mac Grosscup, a III former who looks after our black and white ruffed lemurs, Fidget and Bombo.

“After attending St. David’s in New York City since Kindergarten, but spending summers and weekends in nearby Litchfield, Connecticut, I decided I like the country more than the city. So I came to Millbrook because of the strong academic program, but also so I can ride horses in the fall and spring, and of course work at the Trevor Zoo," says Mac.

"I love the fact that you can go to school, but also work at the zoo. And it’s a real zoo, not a petting zoo. There are not just simple animals like turkeys and sheep, which we have, but also more involved and endangered species. Like the lemurs, which are my favorite.”

When asked what the best part of being a Zooie is Mac said, “Being able to spend time with the animals, of course. But really, taking care of animals builds your independence. It prepares you. You need to be able to plan your day and schedule your time. It reinforces your whole school experience. And also being trusted by the staff builds your confidence.”

Congratulations, Mac!
