Zooies of the Week - Helen Boon '19 and Clare Carty '19
Our Zooies of the Week are Helen Boone and Clare Carty, both III formers who take care of the coatis and waterfowl.
Helen and Clare are new Zooies who started working at the Zoo this past week as part of the winter III form community service rotation. All incoming III formers spend one season of their first year at Millbrook working at the Trevor Zoo as part of their community service program.
Clare, from Hoboken, New Jersey, is the sister of Max Carty ’15 who graduated from Millbrook last spring. She says the coatis (Chula and Rubio) are her favorite animals at the zoo. “It’s fun to have this responsibility of taking care of the animals, and it’s nice to have work like this, besides just regular school work.” Clare also finds spending time at the zoo to be calming and relaxing.
Helen is from Beaumont, Texas and came to Millbrook because she liked the sense of community at Millbrook. She loves the muscovy ducks, “I love to be close to the animals. You really get to see how cute they are!”
