Millbrook victorious in "Mud Bowl" against Gunnery

Millbrook shuts out Gunnery in first night game in Millbrook history
The Mustangs easily beat Gunnery in the first night home football game in Millbrook history. Despite the water soaked field from a day-long rain, the Mustangs were able to move the ball almost at will with ball carriers defying the wet and muddy conditions. The field condition appeared to energize the Mustangs and deflate Gunnery. FB Mike Nassif started off the scoring with a 30 yard TD run with QB Kevin Justice getting the 2-point conversion, which was one of two Justice scored in the game. After that, the Millbrook defense kept Gunnery's offense at bay, even getting help from holding penalties. In one case, the ball was brought back 40 yards on an offensive holding call during a near-touchdown play by Gunnery. After that Gunnery setback, the Mustangs continued to score, with RB Matt Amato scoring 4 touchdowns, 3 on runs, and one pass reception TD. Amato also scored a 2-point conversion. Other scorers were TE Ryan Davis with 2 pass reception TDs, with one 2-point conversion, and TE Ian Devine on a 2-point conversion. Despite the wet conditions, the Mustang passing game was highly effective. The offensive line also gave QB Justice more time to pass which improved the passing offense, including some highly effective screen pass plays. In the 2nd half, the game officials ran the clock without any stopping due to the score which ended the game fairly quickly. The mud-soaked Mustangs celebrated their 3rd win in a season, and their first shutout, two firsts in modern Millbrook football history. Next Saturday, the team plays its last regular season game at home against Forman.
