Millbrook Falls 10-7 to King in Wild Back-and-Forth Contest

The Millbrook Varsity Softball team fell, 10-7, to a solid King School squad on Saturday afternoon. It was a game of wild momentum swings, as the Mustangs jumped out to an early three-run lead when Riley Croghan ‘18 launched a bomb to left center, scoring Emma Gotthelf ‘19 and Jessie Foote ‘18. Millbrook held the 3-0 lead until the fourth, when King put up eight on a barrage of hits. Millbrook made a furious comeback in the sixth, scoring four - helped by a two-RBI triple from Foote and RBI singles from Kelly Phan ‘18 and Helen Boone ‘19. However, the Mustangs couldn’t quite close the gap. Croghan struck out 13 and walked just one. Gotthelf made some beautiful plays at short, including snaring a line drive up the center at full extension. After three away games in four days, Millbrook will have its first home game on Wednesday against Kent.
