The mustangs traveled to West Hartford for a late afternoon showdown with Kingswood Oxford. Although Kingswood has not been lucky on the scoreboard, they have played many teams close, and the girls knew they had to work hard for a victory. Millbrook put a lot of pressure on Kingswood early, but let up in the second period and found themselves trailing 1-0 going into the third. The girls shed the deer in headlights feeling for the third period and peppered the excellent Kingswood goalie with shots. Melissa Sheeran scored on a nice breakaway move, and Meg Lahey went top shelf off the backhand at the conclusion of a beautiful rush. After gaining the lead, Millbrook settled in and forechecked well to keep the puck in the Kingswood zone for the final few minutes. The girls now get some time off for long weekend before facing Gunnery next Wednesday.
