Mustangs hold off Canterbury 5-4

It was a great day for baseball and a very good game.  Both teams played well and we were fortunate to come out on top.  I am proud of how the boys responded to the last loss as we came out focused and supported each other for the full 7.  John McCulla '10 got his 4th win of the season as he threw a complete game, striking out 7 and only walking 3.  He got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 7th with some gutsy pitching.  He also added a long double and drove in the much needed insurance run in the top of the 7th.  Millbrook took the lead 4-0 in the fourth as Harrison Gostfrand '11 (2 hits, 1 run) hit a line drive single to right center.  After advancing on John McCulla's ground ball to short, Carl Rasmussen '12 hit a long double just out of the reach of the outfielders.  Gostfrand could not score but Grayson Voges '12 drew a walk to load the bases.  With two outs, Andrew Hughes '10 hit a long triple to clear the bases (3rbi, 1 run).  Hughes also led a fine defensive effort with two snares of hard hit balls at first; Harrison Gostfrand made a textbook running catch; and Carl Rasmussen had an excellent day at third, saving us at least one run.  We return home to face Gunnery on Wednesday.
