8-1 Lead after 2.5 at Lake Worth, FL

Had to Call the Game

The Mustangs started this game as we finished the last one – raking!  We went double, single, walk, single, single to start the game and pushed across 3 runs.  We tacked on 5 more in the third.  Unfortunately, Carl Rasmussen ’12, who was pitching a nice game, pulled a muscle which left us with only eight players.  Since we wanted to get some more reps, we agreed to play with only eight which let Lake Worth back in the game.  We ended up scoring three more runs even with Carl’s spot being an automatic out.  Offensively, we banged out 9 hits; 2 each for Tim Cooney ’11 (double, hbp, run, 2 rbi, 2 sb) Captain John McCulla ’10 (3B, BB, 3 rbi) and Harrison Gostfrand ’11 (2 runs).  Jason San Antonio ’10 led off the game with a double, took a walk and scored both times.  Carl Rasmussen drove in two to bring his 3 game total to 8 and walked before leaving the game.  Jason Greenfield ’13  added a two run single and has been hitting the ball with authority.  Taigh Panzer ’12 got his first rbi of the season.  Defensively, the players who were playing their position fielded it well, but we learned the hard way why there are normally three outfielders.
