Holderness is a very fit, skilled, aggressive team that played, quite simply, a beautiful game of field hockey, handing the Mustangs a solid defeat at Kimball Union, on the turf, Saturday. Millbrook started out strong and actually got off several good shots in the opening minutes but couldn't sustain the momentum as Holderness ratchetted up the pressure. Fracchia made two incredible goal line saves about 8 minutes into the game to keep Holderness at bay, but not for long. Holderness had one exceptional player who could dribble through our entire defense, which she did, repeatedly. In five short devasting minutes, Holderness broke our defense and scored 3 quick goals. Burdis got the job of face guarding that player, and as a result, Millbrook held Holderness scoreless for the next 30 minutes. We earned four penalty corners and managed several decent shots at goal. Holderness' last two scores came late in the game, one off a penalty stroke. The Mustangs never gave up, and played hard against a much stronger team. Congratulations to the lady Mustangs for an incredible season! Special kudos and farewell to our five seniors: Anthony, Fresne, Ehrenreich, Maglaque and Zimnoch. We'll miss them in 2008! I'd also like to recognize the leadership of our two captains--- Anthony and Morrison; they did an exceptional job all season.
