Another great tie for the Boys

On Saturday, the Mustangs squared off against a strong Trinity Pawling squad in adverse conditions. Kicking off in a downpour, both teams struggled to keep their feet and move forward successfully. A see-saw battle ensued as the sides traded offensive and defensive play. T- P found the net first, when Bakayoko slipped behind the Millbrook defense for a nifty goal. This score held into halftime. In the second half, the early edge went to Millbrook, with Abbott scoring an equalizer on an opportunistic foray. At this point, T – P counter-attacked and Bakayoko scored another to put his side ahead. Millbrook refused to give up, creating several good scoring opportunities. On a restart just outside the box, Baldo chipped in a nice ball which MacTavish buried on a header. Although T – P pushed furiously in the final minutes, they were unable to score another and the contest ended in a 2 – 2 tie. The home side was well served by the fine defensive work Lehrecke, assisted by Naeff and directed by Brundrett in goal. Vouges and Harrington played well in the midfield and Bottini contributed significantly at striker.
