Saturday’s game against Chase Collegiate was a very close affair featuring two evenly matched teams. Outstanding goal-tending and strong defensive play at both ends resulted in a scoreless tie at the half. Millbrook began the second at a furious pace creating several outstanding scoring opportunities, the most dangerous produced by Abbott. The Chase counterattack resulted in the game’s first goal, a spectacular header by Fortuner. Millbrook’s Mauri answered, following a spirited offensive build-up from center. Unfortunately, a corner kick for Chase resulted in their second tally, which proved to be the game winner. Brundrett’s superb play in goal kept the home team close as the boys pushed for the equalizer in the waning minutes but time ran out on these efforts. Fiore, Harvey and MacTavish played especially well in the midfield while J. Augustine and Demarte turned in strong performances in the back.
