Milbrook loses home opener in front of rowdy crowd
The Bearcats outlasted the Mustangs in three sets (16-25, 16-25, 22-25).
The story of the match was behind the service line as Millbrook made far more errors than their opponent throughout the match. To start game one, Emma Salvatore and An Tran got the ball rolling each with a pair of aces in the first 7 points for the Mustangs. A serving run late in the first game created the separation the Bearcats needed to take a 1-0 lead. Hotchkiss took an early 5-0 in game number two and did not look back as the score never got closer than three points for the rest of the game. As afternoon practices ended, Millbrook’s student section filled up, providing a much-needed jolt of energy for the home team. At 21-22, Millbrook won what may have been the longest point in the school’s short, yet mighty volleyball history (68 seconds) to tie the score. Hotchkiss would take the next three points to close out the match. Millbrook is on the court next at Greens Farms Academy Saturday, October 2 at 3:00.
