Mustangs Fall to CSH, 4-1

The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team held its own against a tough, talented Sacred Heart squad for much of the game before finally succumbing, 4-1. CSH got on the board first just a minute and a half into the game, but the Mustangs played some tenacious defense and got a goal back on a picture-perfect corner: an injection from Chloe Robinson ’19 to Ava Quartararo ’18 at the top of the circle—then a pass to the stroke mark where a waiting Emma Gotthelf ’19 fired it past the keeper. CSH scored again a couple of minutes later, and the teams went into the intermission at 2-1. CSH used excellent spacing and passing to set up a patient attack and added two more in the second half, but Millbrook played with heart. Robinson, Gotthelf, and Quartararo were especially fiery on the attack, and Caroline Reilly ’17 and Jen Hughes ’17 were stalwart on defense. Gracie Filler ’17 notched 10 saves in the cage. The Mustangs will host St. Luke’s on Wednesday in their penultimate home game of the season.
