Ethel Walker Edges Millbrook 3-2 in OT

The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team fell to Ethel Walker, 3-2, with just 49 seconds left in overtime. It was a thrilling game, and the Mustangs played with real heart. Patricia Smith '17 was phenomenal in the goal, notching an astounding 17 saves (including a penalty stroke). Ethel Walker got on the board first about 10 minutes into the first half , but the Mustangs quickly got one back when Jasmine Thatcher '17 knocked in a pass at the left post from Chloe Robinson '19. Ethel Walker scored again with ten minutes left to play in the half, and that's how the teams went into intermission. Eight minutes into the second, Millbrook drew a penalty corner, and Robinson injected the ball to Ava Quartararo '18, who sent in a laser from the top of the circle into the cage. The two tired teams fought to a stalemate to end regulation and went into 7-v-7 overtime. The Mustangs made a valiant effort and came close to scoring, but had to go down to six players with a couple of minutes left in the 10 minute OT period. Ethel Walker took advantage and scored with under a minute to go, ending the game. The Millbrook forwards had some great passing today--especially Thatcher, Robinson, Emma Gotthelf '19, and Emma Oliva '18. Millbrook will host Cheshire on Saturday for Parents Weekend.
