Mustangs Earn 5-1 Win over Westover

The Millbrook Varsity Field Hockey team traveled to Westover on Saturday and came away with a 5-1 win. Though it took the Mustangs a little while to adjust to the bumpy grass field (it made us appreciate our beautiful turf), Millbrook scored about five minutes in when Ellie Muckstadt '18 knocked home a ball from Emma Gotthelf '19. Gotthelf put the lead at 2-0 after she scored off a pass from Tess Toland '18. While the first half was not very pretty, the Mustangs got going a bit in the second, as Ava Quartararo '18 and Gotthelf both scored unassisted goals within the first few minutes of the second. Emma Oliva '18 finished off the scoring (assist Quartararo) with 10 minutes to play. Westover scored with a few minutes left to go and the game well in hand. Patricia Smith '17 (seven saves) and Gracie Filler '17 both played keeper and combined for the win. Laura Toland '17 and Lucy Burke both did nice work on D. Millbrook will host Ethel Walker on Wednesday.
