9 Innings Not Enough
Millbrook traveled to Suffield Academy on Wednesday afternoon for an interleague matchup. The Mustangs struggled to shake off the bus in the first inning, allowing two unearned Tiger runs to score.
Millbrook was quick to respond in the top of the second, however, as '17 Jack Quartararo, '16 Danny Horne, and '17 Eli Gordon reached base to open the inning. '16 Danny Mitchell followed with a 2-RBI double to put the Mustangs on the board and '16 Andrew Colangelo followed with a 2-RBI base hit of his own to give Millbrook a 4-2 lead.
Suffield knotted the game at 4 in the bottom of the third, and there it remained for the next 6 innings. Suffield threatened in the bottom of the seventh but Mitchell cut down the potential winning run at the plate to send the game to extra innings.
Millbrook took a one run lead in the top of the ninth as '16 Connor Morrisroe plated Colangelo with an RBI single. Unfortunately, the Tigers responded with two of their own in the bottom half of the frame to earn the victory.
Jack Quartararo was strong on the mound for Millbrook, going seven innings before giving way to the bullpen.
Millbrook will travel to Canterbury on Saturday for a 3PM start.
