Millbrook Celebrates Global Perspectives During World Culture Week
Over the course of this week students are engaged in exploring inclusivity, cultural awareness, and ethnic food of many world cultures.
The week of events was kicked off on Friday, April 4th with a flag procession led by Millbrook’s international students during morning assembly. The students carried the flag of their native country, and greeted the community in their native languages.
For the rest of the week students will be participating in daily activities including a “colors of the flag” dance, world culture and food fair, live music performances by international students, global trivia contests, photography contests, international movie nights, and multiple fundraisers benefitting OXFAM. Each day the dining hall features the food of a specific culture allowing students to enjoy cuisine from Italy, Spain, the Middle East, Canada, Vietnam, Korea, and France.
The week will be an eye-opening experience for all those involved, as they get look into new cultures, customs, and cuisines. Actively practicing and pursuing cultural diversity is essential to prepare our students for a life both individually satisfying and valuable to the greater society.
