The girls outshot Brooks 30-14 overall and 10-1 in the third, but the Brooks goalie stood on her head to shut down the mustangs. Brooks started the scoring in the first when they banged home a loose puck in the slot. Melissa Sheeran would tie the game later in the period with a beautiful breakaway move. Millbrook took three penalties in the second period, and Brooks was able to capitalize. Despite a masterful penalty kill by Morgan Wilm, a Brooks skater was able to enter the zone and was just looking to throw something on net. The puck caromed off a Millbrook defenseman, off the post, and into the net. Millbrook would have several great opportunities to tie the game, but just couldn't find the back of the net. It wasn't the result the girls wanted or expected, but they played a great game - the bounces just didn't go their way. Graduating players #2, #7, #9, #13, #18, and #20 will leave some big shoes to fill. We thank you for all you have done for Millbrook hockey.
