On a bright sunny day, the Millbrook Varsity girls had a spring in their step en route to a 7-0 win. It was great way for this very happy coach to spend his birthday!
The girls's played some great Tennis against some solid play from the Greenwich team. The singles started with straight set wins by all the girls. #1 Isabel Seaborn '16 fought off a late charge to win the second set and match 7-5. #2 Sophia Hartman used her solid all court game to best her aggressive opponent 2-0. #3 Captian Eleanor Sednaoui '13 got back to her winning ways with a convincing win. #4 Heidi Reiss finshed well to earn an 0,2 win. Great job by the singles who are all showing signs of improvement.
The doubles also went quite well. #1 Alix Creel '14 and Iona Moir '15 played some exceptional doubles on the way to a straight set victory. #2 Julia Freund '16 and Julia May '14 continued their unbeaten streak. The first set was a dogfight as they prevailed 6-3. They made some nice adjustments to win the second set 6-1.
The match of the day was played at #3 where Skye Moir '13 and Sayre Reimer '13 teamed up for the first time. After dropping the first set 6-1, the gilrs made a nice adjustment and forced a tie break in the second set which they won 7-2. A super tie-breaker would decide the match and again the girls were up to the challenge. With solid groundstrokes and capable net games, they previaled to give Millbrook our first sweep of the season.
Our thanks go to Greenwich for their gracious play and for making the long trip on a Saturday to play this match.
We have a challenging match coming up against local rival Berkshire. We will practice at 6:30 On Tuesday night to get ready for the home match on Wednesday. It was great to have so many parents and fans in attendance. The girls really appreciate it. Have a great weekend!
