Millbrook Skates to Victory Over GA

Samantha Tarnasky
This afternoon's game was an exciting, high tempo competition. The Mustangs started the scoring early in the first when Melissa Sheeran netted the opening goal, assisted by Megan Ahern. Millbrook was quick on their feet and crisp with their passing, which allowed them to hold the 1-0 lead leaving the first period. Marianne Thomaris opened the scoring in the second period with a solid rush to the net. The goal was unassisted but kept the momentum with the Mustangs. Geneva Wagoner played an aggressive and energetic second period, keeping the puck away from Tori Trovato, who came up with the big saves that Millbrook needed. Allanah Roopchand secured the lead with only 1:33 remaining in the second period, assisted by Melissa Sheeran and Heather Neuberger. Going into the third period, Anna Waldschmidt and Holland Harvard did good work on the blue lines to keep the puck away from the Mustangs' net. Unfortunately, Greenwich was able to put two past Trovato in the middle of the third period. Millbrook rallied and took care of business, killing off 4 penalties in the last 10 minutes of play. With only a minute remaining, GA pulled the goalie, which allowed Sheeran to notch her second goal of the game, skating in after a clean pass from linemate Emily Even. Overall, this was a well-played game, and well deserved victory for the girls!
