1st Annual Mike Fuller Memorial Alumni Lacrosse Game
Millbrook held our 1st Annual Mike Fuller Memorial Lacrosse Game on Saturday, May 22nd in honor of former lacrosse coach and admission Associate Director Mike Fuller who died suddenly six years ago.
Mike was a beloved member of the Millbrook family - a husband, father, coach, teacher, dorm parent, and friend - who will always be remembered with great love and respect by all who knew him. Twenty-five alumni players joined us to celebrate Mike's life in an afternoon game against the current boys varsity lacrosse team. The alumni were happy to be back, thrilled to be playing on the new turf field in memory of Mike, and very impressed by the current lacrosse program and how well the boys worked together.
It was a perfect day for a lacrosse game on the new turf field, and the alumni (including current assistant coach Gordie MacKenzie '79), joined by headmaster Drew Casertano, were in the game to win. Play went back and forth, and the game ended in regulation time in a tie. In a "Braveheart" OT, Nick Farrell '08 faced off against TJ Sanders '12, and the final game-winning goal was earned by the young Sanders. After working up an appetite, everyone enjoyed a barbecue which was held just outside the lacrosse field, next to the tree dedicated in Mike Fuller's memory.
The event was organized by varsity lacrosse coach Dave Mullen who credits current parents Mary Harvey, Kelsey Bennett, and Joanna Schulman for their efforts to make this day happen and their many contributions to the afternoon's success.
