Millbrook and Williston met Monday on the turf at BerkshireSchool in a game rescheduled from
early October. The afternoon was clear and very cold as the two teams squared
off. The Mustangs got off to a superb start and controlled play for the
majority of the first half. Several excellent scoring opportunities developed
but Millbrook was unable to convert. Williston found its legs in the second
half and the game was much more even. Things looked especially grave when their
captain, DeMello, found himself alone and with room to move forward at the top
of the box. Brundrett made the save of the match, flashing out his left leg to
deflect a sure goal harmlessly past the post. The game remained scoreless
until, with less than 2 minutes to play, MacTavish drove along the goal line
and passed across to Harvey, who tucked the ball into the net. The win was an
exciting one, created by solid team play and determination.
