M.R. Morrison (09') grabs another shutout

Earning their 6th shutout for the season, the varsity field hockey team stormed over a scrappy Hopkins squad 4-0. Probably because we had eaten too much Halloween candy, the team started out a little sluggish and slow, but we were not without our offensive opportunities. Off our first penalty corner, Kane's blistering shot was blocked and Hopkins' talented back made a nice goal line save when Anthony shot the rebound, denying Millbrook an almost certain goal. But a few minutes later, Zublin made a nice pass back to a wide open Chapman who shot from the top of the circle, to net Millbrook's first goal. Assist to Zublin. Millbrook scored again on a corner as Kane stopped the injection, back passed it to Burdis who shot and scored, with assists to Fresne and Kane. Hopkins never threw in the towel, testing our defense on numerous occasions. We gave up 6 penalty corners in the first half, and the fine defense of Small, Fracchia, Zimnoch, Duhoski and Ehrenreich, Morrison in goal, saved the day.

In the second half, at 19:40, Anthony scored with assists to VonKlencke and Burdis. Zublin assisted a second goal, this time setting up Scher who notched her second goal of the season from the right wing slot.  Morrison and the defense made some great saves late in the game as the Hopkins team rallied one last time. Morrison's great clears wide proved instrumental in maintaining the shut out. A good game for the entire team.
