Boys Varsity Soccer's win streak comes to a hault

Millbrook took the field against the Lions of Kent this afternoon and experienced firsthand what soccer at the large school level looks like. The Kent side was fast, highly skilled and aggressive. An early Mustang mistake led to a penalty kick goal in the 16th minute. Hard-nosed play earned Kent another goal ten minutes later. To their credit, the Mustangs did not lose their composure and a nice series of combination plays resulted in a pretty goal by Bailly, who finished on a well-aimed cross. One more by Kent made the score 3 – 1 at the half. Play in the second half was intense and the Millbrook boys gave as good as they got. Although we did not find the back of the net again, Farrell, Theriault and MacTavish created quality chances. Sinclair, the Navarro brothers and Harrington contributed superb play at their respective positions. A clear standout all afternoon long, Fiore worked diligently to hold the defense together, especially after the loss of both Augustine’s to injury. Despite the loss, Millbrook played a good game of soccer, bowing to a superior opponent.
