The Warner Gallery at Millbrook is honored to present Transmogrify, paintings by Hudson Valley artist Ruth Leonard, a creator of landscapes and natural tableaux. The paintings seem to levitate off the walls with bold compositions and colors that blend the fantastic and the real.
After touring the gallery and leading a discussion of her work, Ms. Leonard described her process and technique in a master class in the studio. Ms. Leonard introduced students to using sticks and other non-traditional implements as they rendered a still life of branches and other flora assembled in the center of the room. Looking through frames at their subject to aid and personalize composition, no two paintings looked alike.
Transmogrify graces the gallery through April 18, 2022.
