Wednesday’s affair was a wet and sloppy one. The weather and the field left much to be desired and these adverse conditions tested the group. The long bus ride added its own challenges to the mix. As a result, the Mustangs got off to a slow start, stumbled around, and gave up a goal in the 21st minute, to a Wilbraham team intent on earning the win. The goal fired up our side and we evened the score within a minute, Bressette scoring on an assist from Mohammed. The rest of the half was ours in every category and culminated with the eventual game winner, a strike from Southwick. Determined to hold this lead, the Mustangs took the field after the break, controlled play and scored an insurance goal, an unassisted tally from Ferreira.
Roberts earned the game card for his play in the midfield, Ricker and Southwick were standouts in the back and Cott and Domber, the game captains, played superbly all afternoon long. The win reassures us that we can play a good game of soccer, despite the conditions, and sends us into Saturday with renewed confidence and enthusiasm.
