Super Suffield Suffocation
Hosting the boys from Suffield today, the Mustangs were hopeful but wary, given the last win was in 2007. Colin and Dan played well at #1 doubles but dropped their match 8-3. Sam and Bud winning at #2 8-7, and Drew and Will losing 8-4 gave the visiting team the doubles point.
Singles couldn't have been closer as Colin at #1 won decisively 3 and 1, Sam at #3 0 and 4, and Bud at #5, 5 and 4. Dan at #2 played brilliant tennis and was even serving for the second set, but dropped his match 4 and 5. Drew's serve let him down in the end and lost at #6, 3 and 4. That leaves the match ties at three and with Will Simons at #4 winning the first set but dropping the second, 2 and 6, the super tie breaker would decide the match. Will was up to the challenge winning 10-8 in the third giving the Mustangs a hard fought victory.
Matches of the day came from our co-captains. Collin at #1 dominating his opponent in every way and showing why he is such a fearless leader, and Co-captain Will at #4, coming through by the narrowest of margins. Final 4-3 Millbrook.
